CLEARING OUT BRÄNNSKÄR

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

5th of December 1941

- The foundation for 47mm gun was found from Brännskär, but the guns had been removed. Because there was ammunition in the water, it is possible that the guns had been sunk into the sea, like in other places too. Also this island was strongly fortified with machine gun nests and with barbed wire obstacles. The garrison had been living in a large barrack, which was similar to the barrack in Långskär.

Corporal H. Hartella and Major L. Henriksson.

- There is no remains visible from the structure 451 in the island of Svedjeholmen. During the war there has been civilian buildings, which could have provided accommodation for the troops. Due to this reason, constructing this structure has not been a top priority. The above picture shows the view towards the island of Ängholmen.
