MINED MACHINE GUN POSITION NO. 2

ARMAMENT

(Teasing the encirclement of Hanko, Adolf Molnár)

July 1941 to December 1941

- Our battalion wasn't international only because of us volunteers, but because our armament and equipment were foreign also from all the possible countries.

- The main supplier of course was Soviet Union, from where most of the rifles came and also the light machine guns. All of these were very good weapons, got for free. Then we of course had the "Suomi" sub-machine guns. Additionally there were Belgian, German and Russian sub-machine guns. From Czech and Germany we got pistols and bullets to these pistols came from Belgium and from Italy.

- The artillerymen were equipped with Swedish Mausers, but of course they preferred their own big guns, which also came from several different countries. There were artillery guns from Soviet Union, USA, England and from France. The AA-gun crews and AT-gun crews fired with Danish, French, Russian and Swedish guns.

- The German hand grenades we kept in a metal box, but the Hungarian and French egg grenades were kept in our bread bags. These were mixed with Swedish love letters, American pencils and with Finnish paper.

- The whole position is mined into a rock and is facing towards the Russian held islands. This is located quite close to the place where the AA-machine gun position has been marked in the map. It might be also, that this is the actual AA-machine gun position. The position is large enough to have contained an AA-machine gun and to have been able to defend against aircrafts coming from any direction.
