FORTIFICATION CARD FOR THE STRUCTURE 74, a & b

Structure number: 74, a & b

Structure

Two open gun positions for 76/50 gun.

Sector center line

State of readiness (1942)

Cast.

Remark (1942)

The gun positions are half full of water.

Remark (1955)

The base of the gun is located in both of the positions. The bolts and screws are still in the base. The gun positions are half full of water.

Note

The positions have been filled very quickly with water. The water has come to the positions in one spring if we think that positions were abandoned in December 1941 and already on 11th of September 1942 the positions were half full of water. The sub-letters a) and b) indicate the two gun position. Sector center line is not marked to the fortification card, as the guns have had a wide firing sector.

Dated: 11.9.1942 & 28.3.1955

- The first inventory in the Harparskog-line was made in 1942, when the Finnish Defence Forces made the first fortification cards for the structures in Harparskog-line. In 1955 the structures in the defensive line were inspected once again and at that time, description part for the original fortification cards were made. The description from 1955 gives very detailed information about the structures, as there's even a full inventory what should be in the structures and what is missing.

- Notes are based on my own personal observations in the defensive line during the years 2005 & 2006.
