EXCERPT FROM THE FLIGHT LOG OF RECONNAISSANCE AND BOMBER FLIGHT

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

2nd of December 1941 

- Reconnaissance flight: 2.12.1941. Time: 10:40 - 12:15. 

- Observations: One G-class destroyer, two Fugas-class minesweepers, one galley, one towing boat and one small ship which class could not be identified is anchored to the north-east side of Russarö. Additionally one ship of unidentified class is anchored to north-west side of Russarö. Hanko harbour could not be observed. Heavy AA-fire coming against the plane. Fires spotted in several places along the southern coastline.

- The moss covered gun position can be found from the area fully ready.

- The local residents probably have fenced the positions, so that no one falls accidentally into the positions. Especially during the winter it might be hard to see these positions.

- Communication trench, which has connected the two separate positions. The communication trench isn't intact anymore.
