CLEARING OUT LÅNGSKÄR
(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)
5th of December 1941
- On 5th of December Lieutenant Ramström cleared out Långskär and Brännskär, where Russians
have had also a battery positions. The island of Långskär had been a strongly fortified base, but almost everything in the island had been destroyed. Three destroyed 100mm guns and one floodlight and its power station was found from the north-east corner of the island, where the coastal line was very steep. The island had also a wooden barrack, which contained a numerous iron beds, showing that the island
have had a large garrison. There were no mines in the island. The island of Storlandet and Mellanskär were without fortifications and those islands were used mainly as a guarding and observation positions, because a phone line had been pulled to them from Tvärminne.
Corporal H. Hartella and Major L. Henriksson.

-
Not much remain as a memory from the structure 442. A clear pit however
can be found, from where a communication trench leaves towards inner part
of the island. The remains can be found exactly from the spot, to where it
has been marked in the map.

-
View from the inside of the structure towards the firing direction.

-
The remains seen a bit further away. A big thank you to that summer
resident of the island, who showed this remains.
