EXCERPT FROM THE FLIGHT LOG OF RECONNAISSANCE AND BOMBER FLIGHT

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

16th of July 1941

- Reconnaissance flight: 16.7.1941. Time: 14:55 - 16:05.

- Observations: Reconnaissance performed to the grids H 4953, H 4956 and H 4959. Flying altitude was 300 meters during the time 15:25 to 15:30. No buoys spotted. One ship spotted in north-west of Russarö at 15:30. The ship was heading to Hanko. Fires spotted in Prästö, Lappohja and in the tip of Hanko Cape. While I was flying in the area of Russarö to the heading of 290 degrees, I noticed an enemy fighter plane type I-16 behind of me. The distance was about 600 meters. I immediately turned towards the enemy, which also turned and ascended to the clouds.

- Weather: Overcast at 600 meters. The clouds are gauzy.

430, Picture 1

- The above picture shows one of the two remains in the nearby area to where structure 430 has been marked. The structure remains has been covered effectively with vegetation. That most likely is the structure 430, although the distance from the spot to where it has been marked to the map is a rather long. The above remains is located close to the remains, which I assume to be the remains of the structure 417.
