EXCERPT FROM THE FLIGHT LOG OF SQUADRON 6

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

30th of June 1941

- Reconnaissance flight: 30.6.1941. Time: 13:00 - 14:00.

- Observations: Large three-mast sailing ship in the dock at the grid H 49493. Time 13:35. Otherwise the dock is empty and there is no movement. The airfield seems empty. Alone I-16 tried to attack against the flight leader plane, when flying above the Russarö battery. Altitude was 1 500 meters. Flight leader managed to disengage. Two MBR flying boats anchored in their peacetime harbour in the grid H 49493. Time 13:36.

- General impression: The area is quiet. There is no AA-gun fire coming from anywhere.

- The structure seen from the side. Rather unique structure and it is a question mark whether or not this place contained a gun. In any case the position like all of the gun positions, is located in a place from where the field of fire has been a good one to the planned firing direction, which in this case has been the island of Möön. Covering the area between the mainland and the island of Marholmen seems to have been the main job for this position, when looking at the firing direction.

 - The natural rock formations have been utilized effectively, when building this position.
