EXCERPT FROM THE FLIGHT LOG OF RECONNAISSANCE AND BOMBER FLIGHT

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

15th of July 1941

- Reconnaissance and photography flight: 15.7.1941. Time: 15:15 - 16:25.

- Observations: Lieutenant Savonen: I didn't spot any enemy fighters. There is a fire at the southern end of the airfield. I wasn't able to locate the fire more accurately due to my high flying altitude. Artillery was in action on both sides. Few AA-shells exploded in front of my plane.

417, Picture 1

- When looking at the shape of the structure, which can be found near of the possible structure 430, this could be a machine gun nest. The picture below shows one machine gun nest as it was in 1941. The shape of the structures is similar to each others even when the pictures have been taken from a different angle. The distance of the above remains differs a lot from the planned location of the structure 417. The firing direction however is correct.

417, Picture 2

- The above picture shows the planned firing direction. The island of Lackisör where the Finnish advance positions were located is in the middle of the picture. The area of Pargas where Harparskog-line goes is on the left side of the island of Lackisör. The island of Bengtsår Prästön, which was occupied by the Russian troops, is located on the right side of the picture.
