INSPECTING THE 19th AND 21st FIELD BATTERIES, PART II
- The mined structure seems to be ready. This structure was planned to be a machine gun nest with machine gun cupola.
- The construction differs from other mined constructions in such a way, that there isn't any clear entrance visible to this structure. How this one would have looked when finished is another matter.
- Iron bars attached to the rock remain around the structure 406.
- Pile of stones from the mining job, which was performed to construct the structure 406. Some of the stones are no doubt also from the mining job performed for the structure 407, which is located within a hundred meters from here.
- The mined structure is quite small.
- View towards the firing direction for the structure 406. The plan has been that this machine gun nest could have fired flanking fire against any enemy troops trying to advance from the Storholmen island to the mainland. Structures 405 and 406 seem to cover the shores of Storholmen island very well.
- Next to the mined structure would seem to be another remains. It is hard to say whether or not that is just a natural depression or not, but...
- ...at least iron bars again surround the previous "position". |
