ARTILLERY FIRE TO KRONHOLM, PART I
September 1941 to October 1941
- General view of the area.
- A smile...
- A watchful eye...
- Entrance into the bunker, which is being protected by the splinter protection. That particular construction is a very typical one for the bunkers that were armed only with one machine gun.
- Metal bar is still attached to the hook, which can be found from all of the bunkers.
- Lion of Finland, but the marking for the construction year has been badly damaged. Remains from the -40 mark is still visible, but it's like someone would have scratched the mark off.
- Rusted and corroded door into the bunker.
- Hinges could use some oil.
- Open...
- Open again, but now upside down, like it appears in the door.
- And closed...
- Trench line can be seen leaving from the bunker and finally if you follow this trench line, you will end up to the accommodation bunker 451.
- This bunker 303 is pointing towards the intersection area. In the 1940's, that intersection was a very busy one, as it was the main road in and out of Hanko. Today it serves only as a secondary road and it is not possible with a car to follow the old Leksvall road like it went in the 1940's.
- Metal bar and the chimney flue stripped naked. |
