STOR-BOCKHOLM AND LILL-BOCKHOLM, PART I

(Teasing the encirclement of Hanko, Adolf Molnár, & History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

(If there is differences in the name of the places in 1941 and today, italic text inside the closures has been used to indicate the name of the place today)

28th of September 1941

- Even as the weather was getting more and more worst, there were still patrols, which continued using the canoes. Lupsakka and Moustgaard visited Takvedsholm (Takvedaholmen), Forss and Löfman were also in patrol and Kivinen canoed together with Karlsson and Bäckman to Lill-Bockholm (Lilla Bockholmen).

- Stor and Lill-Bockholm (Bockholmen and Lilla Bockholmen) were the great mysteries in our section. Both were located right next to the Finnish positions. As the war started, the Finnish however retreated from the islands and only Kamsholmen was occupied with our troops.

- Patrol Kivinen was ordered to go with the canoes close to the Lill-Bockholm (Lilla Bockholmen), then land to the island and observe the island of Stor-Bockholm (Bockholmen). It was forbidden to land to Stor-Bockholm (Bockholmen). Our Major thought it very likely that the island would be occupied by the enemy troops, as he would have done so if he had been on the other side.
