PATROLLING IN THE SNALO SECTION, PART III

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

25th of July 1941

- The result from this diversion was, that we now learned several different artillery and automatic weapon positions. However no fire was opened from Gloskär, Furutratt and from Hasselholmen. We noticed, that enemy had had the time to move mortars, heavy artillery and direct firing guns to Hästö, which was important for the enemy. In any case the enemy most like had noticed the purpose of the lone motorboat and decided to pay back in a similar manner. During the next evening they sent three to four motorboats, which moved slowly in the waters surrounding Hästö. It is not sure if this was a diversion, because it also might have been an ordinary patrol securing the surroundings after our diversion.

Corporal H. Hartella and Major L. Henriksson.

- The structure 251 cannot be found from the area, to which it has been marked in the fortification map. There aren't so many summer cottages in the area that constructing those could have affected to the disappearance of the structure. Most likely this particular structure was never constructed.

- Like in the whole Prästkulla area, there is also some farm houses in the area where structure 251 is suppose to be. These farmhouses have accommodated troops during the war. Building concrete or even wooden dugouts this far from the frontline has been low priority. Fortifying the forward positions has been the most important job.
