ATTACK TO VRAKHOLMEN, PART I

(History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

30th of November 1941

- The attack to Vrakholmen started at 6:58 after the normal artillery strike. After this the attacking force moved with a three rowing boats from Björkholmen, to which 2 + 6 men were left as a backup. At 7:20 the troops had landed to Vrakholmen without a fight. Vrakholmen was noticed to be a much more strongly fortified than Björkholmen. Eight machine gun nests were found from Vrakholmen, when there was only two in Björkholmen.

Corporal H. Hartella and Major L. Henriksson.

- The large accommodation areas of the bunker. The structure is a very interesting one, when it comes to the interiors. There is no second structure in Harparskog-line like this, which would be unlocked and free to visit. However the structure is located right in the yard of a summer cottage, so if there are people nearby, it is polite to go and ask permission, before walking the edge of the yard to the structure.

- The camouflaging of the front wall has been completed and it is a very impressive looking.
