(Teasing the encirclement of Hanko, Adolf Molnár & History of the Hanko Group, T-22005, Military Archives of Finland)

(If there is differences in the name of the places in 1941 and today, italic text inside the closures has been used to indicate the name of the place today)

24th of September 1941

- Tuominen concentrates the fire of the heavy mortars to this area, fire, fire, fire! The dull noise of the artillery shells turns now into a deadly and poisonous whistling of the mortar grenades. After a few test shots, the villa is already on fire and Tuominen concentrates the mortar fire to even more farther targets. After this he again contacts the heavy artillery and orders them to fire. Near Krogens (Krogars) there is even more targets. Trucks and horses are moving in the road of Tammisaari - Hanko. The Russians there are also preparing their positions and fixing the damaged road.

- Grenades are now landing to Krogens (Krogars) and to the fortifications there. Soon the whole area is covered in smoke. Someone is trying to cycle his way out from the fire storm, his sense must say that it is the only way to survive, but death wrenches this opportunity from him as grenade lands near of his bicycle.

And again are the grenades howling...
