RECONNAISSANCE MISSION TO SYSSLAN, PART II

7th of September 1941

- Meanwhile Johnny and Sundquist in Sysslan (Sysslungen) have made their way into the island and have lied down, waiting for the dawn. The men needs to stay in the island for the whole day, they cannot head back before the next night. Finally the day starts and Johnny and Sundquist start their work. 

- Kilboholm (Killboholmen) has a gun capable for direct firing. Prästö (Bengtsår Prästön) has a machine gun in its ready dugout and in Bengtsår there is five heavy machine guns and a one light machine gun, all in excellent dugouts. Few of those are even covered with stones. The shore has been covered with double fence obstacles. Fire control position is located in the peninsula, which sticks out from Bengtsår to the sea. The map is filled with blue and red markings, lines are drawn from these and roads are marked to the map. When the evening comes, the boys head out back to the Finnish lines. A Russian loud-speaker is roaring in Prästö (Bengtsår Prästön). The boats are sliding silently in the water and "Internationale" can be heard behind of them.

- Structure 210 cannot be really found from the area, to where it has been marked in the map. There is some small pits, but nothing big enough which could be considered to be the structure 210. The pictures in this page have been taken near of Norrviken, which can be seen in the lower left part of the fortification map.

- The area contains some positions, which are hidden well inside the forest on top of a tall rock.

- The area contains approximately 60 meters of trench line, build by the Coastal Battalion 55. The view towards the borderline has been a good one from here.
